For fall 2016, Dior is embracing the warm earthy and rich red tones of the Eiffel Tower through a selection of gorgeous lipsticks for their new Skyline collection.
Dior is introducing several beautiful fall shades to their Dior Addict lipsticks as well as a stunning limited edition shade. Each lipstick will retail for CAD $43 and will be sold at all authorized Dior retailers.
Dior has been one of my favourite, if not my favourite, brands ever since I discovered makeup so you can imagine how excited I am to share with you all the Fall 2016 collection, Skyline.
A little bit about the collection before I delved into some of the beauty products. Skyline is inspired by the beautiful city of lights, Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Having been to Paris, this collection is even more precious to me as it is an absolutely breathtaking city and this collection reflects this really well.
If you’ve seen my previous post about Givenchy’s lipsticks, you’ll know that I’m rather fond of them. Their formulas are superb and the colours stunningly vibrant. For Spring/Summer 2016, Givenchy once again released a couture edition of one of their best selling shades and I was very lucky to receive one to share with you all. I received this year’s couture edition, the Magnolia Couture Edition in Le Rouge in 306 Carmin Escarpin.
Vichy has been one of the leading affordable skincare brands for years. I recently was lucky enough to be chosen for ChickAdvisor’s #VichyWorksForMe campaign where I was given 3 full size products to try. Having used Vichy in the past I couldn’t have been happier to get the chance to try Vichy products for my first campaign.
The products I was able to try as well as their review are as follow:
Vichy Normaderm Deep cleansing purifying gel ($19.95)
Forzieri Italia? Ring any bell? No? For me too, until a few weeks ago.
Because of the lack of reviews I could find regarding Forzieri, I wanted to share my experience with Forzieri. I stumbled upon Forzieri a while back on instagram when they were running their win a $1000 shoes or bag contest. I didn’t win their contest (I wish) but part of the entrant process was to sbubscribe to their email program and because of that I kept receiving promo codes so I figured I’d check them out.
Back when I was in high school, my friends would always say Dayana your skin is flawless, even my guy friends would accuse me of wearing foundation which heck I didn’t even own until my last year of high school. While I didn’t think my skin was flawless as I would get occasional blemishes from picking at pimples (I know awful awful thing to do), my skin was still much healthier in comparison to many. The reason as to why? Well genetics play a huge and important role in the way your skin is but there are many other factors as well. So I thought I’d share a quick list of tips that I use to take care of my skin.
Tip #1: Don’t wash your face too much.
You’re probably thinking what is this girl thinking..but overwashing your face actually results in dry skin so don’t do it!
I only use a cleanser at night and only if I’m wearing makeup. Otherwise, just water and soap it is. Cleansers tend to have many chemicals which with too much use can be harsh for your skin. Also, if you’re cleansing before going to bed, then there is no point in cleansing again in the morning.
My current favourite and go to cleanser is the 4 in 1 Philosophy Purity cleanser. It’s seriously a holy grail cleanser, so light, refreshing and smells great as well!
As the title suggests, I was lucky enough to have the chance to attend another Givenchy event which was once again hosted by Dave Lackie a.k.a beauty editor extraordinaire and one of the nicest person on the planet. (Totally out of context but funny enough the last event I talked about was Givenchy too🙈). Check him out on davelackie.com for amazing contests and for the chance to even attend one of his events!
Onto the Art of Pefumery which was amazing from the very first step into the room at Arcadian Court. From gorgeous roses everywhere to cocktails inspired by the fragrances that were displayed to candy stations, it was simply magical.
Marc Jacobs Beauty has fairly recently changed its Le Marc Lipstick Collection by replacing their Lip Gels with the Lip Crème. Unlike the Lip Gels which had a sheer formula, the Lip Crèmes are described as rich, long-lasting and creamy. I haven’t tried the Lip Gels before but with my pigmented lips, sheer lippies don’t quite work so I’m personally happy about the change.
I’ve been dying to try the Marc Jacobs lippies ever since I saw them but unfortunately expensive taste comes with matching prices, the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crèmes retail for a whooping CAD $38 at Sephora Canada. But someone out there really wanted me to have them, as I won two of them as part of a contest and was a very happy girl. The ones I got are two of the newer shades from the collection, Editrix and Slow Burn, and since they are new I figured I’d do a small review on them.
So now that I have slightly more free time on my hands, I can finally review and talk about all the products I’ve been hoarding. One of those products is the new Kat Von D Shade + Light eye contour palette in Plum. Prior to this, I had never tried any Kat Von D makeup products but I have heard great things about her collection, so I thought I would write a quick review on it. The Kat Von D quad comes with 4 shades: a base, define, contour and highlight shade.
Sephora has just released its new Sephora x Disney Minnie Mouse Collab and everyone has been raving about how it’s utterly adorable and I couldn’t agree more. But way before it, famous designer Anna Sui had a pretty fantastic Disney Minnie Mouse collaboration as well. I managed to accidentally find one of the sets from this amazing collab a few months ago at Winners and was super happy about my find. I figured since everyone is raving about the Sephora collection now would be a good time to show off this gem. Priced at CAD $24.99 (at Winners), I bought it immediately. When I got home, I googled it and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a LIMITED holiday set from 2013. There were two of them and the one I bought is the Red 01.
