While I don’t have a lot of acne, I have noticed that lately I do tend to have clogged pores and rough dry skin. To help with those issues I’ve been trying out the Silk’n Revit Microdermabrasion device which I got from an event a few months ago. This device is designed for at home usage and uses the power of suction as well a diamond tip to remove dirt and dead skin cells while exfoliating the skin. In addition, it is meant to tighten skin and reduce the appearance of scars and fine lines.
The Silk’n Revit comes with the device, a charger, an instruction manual, three different exfoliating tips as well as a little packet containing several filters which all fit perfectly in its travel friendly case.
This was my first time using a device of this type and it was surprisingly really easy to use! I had pretty great results too! While it was not going to replace a spa session, it was really nice nevertheless. After each use, my skin would feel silky smooth, more plump and less dull. It was really refreshing! After each use as recommended, I use a moisturizer (I’ll share some of my favourite moisturizers and skincare products in the coming days) to hydrate the skin and sunscreen for protection since it is new skin. It also does a good job of buffering and reducing the appearance of scarring (I have a small one on my chin from falling off a bike last summer and it removed dead dry skin I wasn’t even aware of that still remained there).
A little word of advice, with a device of this type, you have to be gentle while applying pressure, I wasn’t in some areas and it did cause some superficial red patches which went away after a few days!
Although I love using my Revit, there are some aspects I believe that could be improved. One thing I notice is that the suction is not very powerful, it does not unclog deep pores and as such cannot replace pore strips (which I had hope it would do!). A little more suction would be appreciated. Also, it is a little difficult to use with it having to be plugged in. Hopefully in the future, they will come out with a cordless version. I also would have preferred if instead of having single use filters, that it used one that could be washed or reused.
Overall, my experience with the Silk’n Revit Microdermabrasion device was quite nice, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to have smooth skin and looking for a good exfoliator. I find it to be a worthy investment for CAD$99!
