Bioré Baking Soda Cleanser and Baking Soda Scrub

Bioré’s latest innovation comes in the form of something we have in our own kitchen and have used probably a million times, baking soda! That’s right, we used them for cakes and volcanoes, so it’s about time we use them for beauty products, eh!

The new Bioré cleanser (CAD $6.99) is a gel like substance similar to other drugstore cleansers, but what makes it special is that instead of using microbeads, baking soda particles are used in the same way that microbeads are usually used. So you still get that nice massage feeling minus the microbeads which we now know as being bad for the environment! In terms of cleansing, my skin felt very smooth and fresh afterwards. I enjoyed using the cleanser and I find that it doesn’t have a very strong scent either.

As for the baking soda scrub, it looks and feels like applying baking soda to your face. But it’s so much more than that, it’s actually a really cool product  that’s activated by using a little bit of water (depending on the consistency you want for your scrub) and scrubbing it all over. I found it to be a little messy to use as it was hard to control when trying to pour a small amount. My face felt clean and refreshed afterwards, if not a tad bit drying for some areas as I have combination skin. For me personally, it will be more of a biweekly/once a month scrub. I wouldn’t recommend using it often.

Overall, I found that both products are worth a try. The cleanser while being similar to many other cleansers uses more natural and eco-friendly ingredients and the scrub is just a really interesting product to try!
