Dior has been one of my favourite, if not my favourite, brands ever since I discovered makeup so you can imagine how excited I am to share with you all the Fall 2016 collection, Skyline.
A little bit about the collection before I delved into some of the beauty products. Skyline is inspired by the beautiful city of lights, Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Having been to Paris, this collection is even more precious to me as it is an absolutely breathtaking city and this collection reflects this really well.
The Skyline Collection features two stunning limited edition palettes, 806 Capital of Light and 506 Parisian Sky which are encased in the sleek black case similar to the other Dior 5 Couleurs. What makes them different from other limited edition palettes is that both of these have such a beautiful, intricate designs which mimicks the Eiffel Tower which I found absolutely breathtaking.
Dior 5 Couleurs Skyline Eyeshadow Palette in 806 Capital of Light ($73 CAD) is for the one who loves to rock the warmer richer fall shades. It features a gorgeous off white shade, a very soft brown/beigey shade, a light baby pink shade, an olive grey-ish green shde, and a dark plum shade. All the shades are nicely pigmented with lots of shimmer! While all the shades are shimmery I found that they are light enough to make it work for daily use.
Dior 5 Couleurs Skyline Eyeshadow Palette in 506 Parisian Sky ($73 CAD) is the lighter more “au naturel” palette. It features a sandy beige shade, a very soft brown shade, a very light grey (almost silver) shade, a dark brown shade and a very light aquamarine shade. Like Capital of Light, all the shades are shimmery as well. The shades are slightly on the sheerer sides as the colours are quite light especially when compared to Capital of Light but they are nicely pigmented as well.
These limited edition palettes’ intricate and delicate designs made it so much harder to swatch. It was actually heartbreaking for me to swatch and destroy the artistic wonder that these are🙈.
Below are the swatches in different lights to show off the beautiful pigments. Some of the colours unfortunately don’t show up well on camera especially on my darker skin as some of the shades are slightly on the lighter side. The texture is very smooth and applies easily, no chalkiness at all! To make the colours really pop, I’d recommend layering it up but that’s just my preference.
These stunning palettes are now available for sale at the Bay, Holt Renfrew, Shopper’s Drug Mart and Sephora (and if I were you I would run to the store because I personally don’t think they will last long). These are truly collector’s items and I couldn’t have been luckier to have them.
Big thanks to Dior for their stunning products.
