Hope everyone’s keeping warm, I for one am so happy that there’s finally snow, it’s perfect Christmas weather. One of my favourite activities during the cold weather is to mask! It’s such a fun way to relax and to give your skin some love.
So when My Organic Zone reached out to me to try out their Dead Sea Mud mask, I was ecstatic. I love masks and I have only ever used one or two mud masks (which I love, and maybe should review in an upcoming all about masks post!).
Packaged into a simple plastic jar, this mask contains ingredients such as honey, dead sea mud, aspen bark extract, aloe, jojoba oil, vegetable glycerin, kaolin clay, grapefruit oil and more. It claims to clean and moisturize skin as well as unclog and deep clean pores. It also claims to reduce the appearance of aging.
On another note, this is made in China and to be honest, I rarely buy skin/makeup products made in China but this product is vegan and cruelty free so I gave it the benefit of the doubt.
I did a swatch test on my arm first in case of any irritation (with cream masks and peels, I strongly recommend trying them on your arm first). The consistency is thick which I like in a mud mask. It has a slight scent to it but nothing overwhelming.
Application wise, I used my fingers to apply it or a flat brush would work as well. It can get messy (it’s mud!) so make sure to not wear anything that you wouldn’t to dirty.
The instructions said to let it dry for 15 minutes, it dries well and can have a tightening feel to it. I had to use a wet towel to gently scrub it off afterwards.
As for my results? Well my skin felt smooth and refreshed afterwards. I wouldn’t say my pores were fully unclogged, but they did appear better and smaller. There was no redness or irritation, my skin did turn a little pink from wiping it off but other than that it did its job well! As for reducing the appearance, I wouldn’t know, I don’t quite have those signs yet! 😆
Overall for CAD $17.95 (Amazon Price), this mask is pretty nice. The price is a little high for a mask of this type but it does have a lot in the container and will definitely last a long time so that evens out the pricetag. Plus it made my skin super soft so it’s worth buying atleast once in my books!
Have you tried any mud masks?
