Givenchy Loose Powders: Which one is for you?

With all the rage about “baking”, setting and loose powders have become an important product in our beauty routine. I wanted to find one that suits my needs and didn’t make my skin dry. So when I wanted to find the one and was given the chance to compare Givenchy’s luxurious powders, I was so down.

Givenchy has three different type of setting/”loose” powders: Givenchy Poudre Première (CAD $66), Givenchy Prisme Libre (CAD$66) and the latest addition to their line, the Givenchy Prisme Libre Travel (CAD $48).

<!–more–>

Givenchy Poudre Première is a matte and translucent fined milled white coloured powder. Packaged in a chic all black enamel case with the Givenchy logo on top and with a convenient “how to use” instructions on the bottom. It promises a naturally radiant and matte complexion. It comes in a universal nude to suit anyone’s complexion.

I found that it does mattify my complexion well as well as blend seamlessly. I was afraid it would turn me into a ghost since it’s a white powder but it didn’t, it looks natural and doesn’t cake my makeup. It looks very flawless! It was really impressive.

Givenchy Prisme Libre, on the other hand, while it acts similarly to Poudre Première in enhancing and mattifying one’s complexion, it also helps to diminish impurities. It comes with four unique complimentary coloured powders which when blended together enhances the complexion by evening out skintones. The powders can be used separately for colour correction to target specific areas.

There are also four different types of colour combinations for specific needs. In terms of packaging, it comes in an almost identical black enamel case as Poudre Première but with a clear bottom to see the different coloured powders.

I received the shade Organza Caramel which is meant for a tanned effect. It features a peachy colour which I like to use on my dark circles and blemished areas. Since my complexion is tanned already, instead of a tanning effect it looks very natural on me. It gives a sheer barely there glow and brightens up any dark areas. I also found it wasn’t as matte as Poudre Première which was great for days when I wanted to look more dewy.

Givenchy Prisme Libre Travel is the travel version of Prisme libre featuring the combination of their best selling Prisme Libre Mousseline Pastel. It comes in a cute cylindrical case with a fluffy spongey powder puff. The powder itself is a vibrant violent shade which when applied goes on sheer and provides a natural matte radiant finish.

This is the cutest setting powder ever! I love the applicator for this version and it is so convenient for on the go. As for the formula itself, I suprisingly found that it is more similar to the Poudre Première than Prisme Libre. It offered that same seamless matte and radiant complexion that looks airbrushed.

Final thoughts:

I’m fairly new to this whole setting and loose powder world but I really enjoyed using these powders. The prices are a bit on the higher side but a little goes a long way with these powders.

Poudre Première, Prisme Libre & Prisme Libre Travel

My favourite one is the Prisme Libre Travel because it is so convenient to use and I have it with me at all times. But I do like Prisme Libre for days when I have very little sleep and need a little “oomph” and Poudre Première is my go to when my skin is oily and I want (need) something to make my face nice and matte.

Dior SS 17 Dior Addict Lip Tattoos Long-Wear Colored Tint

One of my must-haves is definitely my trusty lipstick. I almost always have one with me but for the past couple of weeks, I have been using another lip product instead, the Dior Addict Lip Tattoo Long-Wear Colored Tint (CAD $36).

Available in 6 gorgeous bright colours, the Dior Addict Lip Tattoos have a smudge free, fast drying and long lasting formula which offers weightless coverage. They are meant to literally “tattoo” your lips with colour which is so cool!

I received three of the six lip tattoos in 451 Natural Coral, 881 Natural Pink and 491 Natural Rosewood. Continue reading

Cougar Beauty 24HR Liquid Lipstick

I was recently contacted by the Rosedon group hailing from the UK to try one of their products, I was super excited because their Cougar Beauty brand carries a ton of affordable makeup. Since I’m loving liquid lipsticks at the moment, I jumped at the chance to try one of theirs. They offer 5 bold shades in their 24HR liquid lipstick line which claims to be fast drying, non-smudging while offering full coverage and hydration. The shade I chose is called Mulberry (£6.99/ approx. CAD$12.37). It’s a nice neutral pink-mauve shade.

It comes packaged in a black and transparent standard tube with a doe foot applicator (mine was slightly bent but no biggy it still did the job perfectly!). Nothing super fancy but considering its affordable price it’s to be expected. Continue reading

Dior Spring 2017 Backstage Secrets “Sweet Kiss” Lip Glow and Lip Sugar Scrub

Dior’s Backstage Pros collection has been a cult favourite in the beauty world, especially their Lip Glow (CAD $41). I myself have one on me at all times. It truly revolutionized the lip balm as we know it and had immense success which is why Dior has been releasing it in different shades.Back in fall 2016, Dior released it in a pretty lilac shade and for Spring 2017, the newest shade to join the lip glow family is a rich berry shade.

For those who aren’t aware of what makes Dior’s lip glow different from other lip balms; well lip glow works with the pH of your lips and adapts the colour accordingly. Thus, every person’s lips will not only be moisturized but also have a subtle natural colour that is unique to them. I personally think they are the best lipbalm ever. I love the subtle colour it provides and the fact that it has a fresh mint and rose scent.  Continue reading

Dior Spring 2017 Diorskin Nude Air Luminizers

Dior’s new spring collection for 2017, “Color Gradiation” has the perfect combination of bright, vivid and bold colours to achieve the fresh faced and dewy look that are ruling the runways.

As part of the collection, Dior has released a new selection of their Diorskin Nude Air Luminizers which was previously released as part of the fall collection. I was lucky to receive two of the three new shades, 003 and 004.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Craft

Anastasia Beverly Hills founder, Norvina took the world by a storm when she released her makeup collection. She built an army of fans with her famous glow kits, liquid lipsticks, and brow products.

To be honest, I was skeptical at first because it was a brand that came out of nowhere, it didn’t have a long legacy in the beauty industry like Dior or Chanel and I’m not one to buy something based on all the hype (i.e Kylie’s LipKits has yet to be a purchase of mine despite it’s immense popularity the past year). And to add to that I’m biased towards french beauty brands so it took a bit of convincing to get myself to finally take the plunge and get something from ABH.

Perfect Brows with Dior’s Diorshow Brow Styler and Brow Chalk

New Year means new brows, right? Well for me personally it means trying to improve and polish my brows. For the most part, I consider myself to be pretty lucky when it comes my eyebrows because they are fairly thick and full.

Though unfortunately like many, during my early tween years I started threading them to fairly thin bars with high arches and they never quite grew back the same. I now have some small gaps that are taking ages to grow. I’ve been letting it grow for a good year without any professional cleanup but the process is excruciatingly slow.

So lo and behold came my saviours that I swear by, Dior cult favourite, the Diorshow Brow Styler, and new in from their Fall 2016 collection, the DiorShow Brow Chalk.
